Our Guåhan blanket features the work of local artist Veroni Sablan, who we reached out to + commisioned individual watercolor paintings of things that encapsaulated Guam to us: Santa Mariån Kamålen, the Guasåli flower, Puti Tai Nobio, Flame Tree Flowers, Latte Stones, the Guam Seal, the Guam Flag, a Sinåhi necklace, a spondylus necklace, the Spanish Arches, the Chocolate House, the island of Guam, the Koko bird and Sirena. Our hearts were bursting at the seams at how she made our vision come to life, and thus, we created this symbolic + nostalgic collage and entited it "The Guåhan Blanket."

Guåhan Blanket

Blanket Size
  • MINKY AND SHERPA: Wash in cold water, and never use liquid fabric softeners. Heavy Soaps and Softeners will cling to the fibers and will drastically reduce the softness. Vinegar is an excellent fabric softener and can be used as a substitute. Just add to the “fabric softener” dispenser. Air Dry when possible. Tumble dry without heat, you can use a Low Heat, however any heat can increase static and reduce the softness slightly. When using a tumble dryer to dry pull the item out of the dryer before it is 100% dry, take it out at about 90% dry to avoid excessive static cling and lay/hang it to dry the rest of the way. A light misting with plain water in a spray bottle will remove static cling.

ORGANIC MUSLIN: Wash your muslin blanket with like colors before your first use. Use only chlorine-free bleach, if necessary. Tumble dry on low heat. Don’t ever iron or dry clean your muslun. Don’t use fabric softener.

QUILTS AND COMFORTERS: Wash in the washing machine with cold water on the gentle cycle with a low sudsing, mild detergent like Dreft or Woolite. Line dry, or tumble dry on low.
