Wrap your neni in the poignant words of the Inifresi. Written in 1991 by Bernadita Camacho Dungca, PhD, the Inifresi calls upon all citizens of our island to rise in allegiance to protect attributes that are uniquely Guam. The curriculum of Chamorro Language Mandate Public Law 21-34 states that students in the first grade should be able to recite this pledge. The Inifresi is usually recited during festivities/celebrations after the Guam Hymn (Fanohge Chamorro) and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Inifresi translates to English as follows: “From the highest of my thoughts, from the deepest of my heart, and with the utmost of my strength, I offer myself to protect and to defend the beliefs, the culture, the language, the air, the water and the land of the Chamorro, which are our inherent God-given rights. I will affirm by the holy words and our banner, the flag of Guåhan!”

This blanket makes the perfect decorative piece for any family which calls Guam home.

Inifresi Blanket

Blanket Size
  • MINKY AND SHERPA: Wash in cold water, and never use liquid fabric softeners. Heavy Soaps and Softeners will cling to the fibers and will drastically reduce the softness. Vinegar is an excellent fabric softener and can be used as a substitute. Just add to the “fabric softener” dispenser. Air Dry when possible. Tumble dry without heat, you can use a Low Heat, however any heat can increase static and reduce the softness slightly. When using a tumble dryer to dry pull the item out of the dryer before it is 100% dry, take it out at about 90% dry to avoid excessive static cling and lay/hang it to dry the rest of the way. A light misting with plain water in a spray bottle will remove static cling.

ORGANIC MUSLIN: Wash your muslin blanket with like colors before your first use. Use only chlorine-free bleach, if necessary. Tumble dry on low heat. Don’t ever iron or dry clean your muslun. Don’t use fabric softener.

QUILTS AND COMFORTERS: Wash in the washing machine with cold water on the gentle cycle with a low sudsing, mild detergent like Dreft or Woolite. Line dry, or tumble dry on low.
